On behalf of South Western Railway, we provided vital electrical safety and access enhancements at multiple SWR depots, related to bringing into service a £1bn rolling stock order of 90no Aventra DC EMUs.

The scope consistent of 46 single or multi-disciplinary mini-projects, which needed to be sensibly grouped and worked through in a collaborative and highly-engaged manner with depot operations personnel for delivery efficiency and to avoid excessive or undue disruption to the depot which had to maintain operation as far as possible.

Full ETE & ETM designs across multiple Depots and Sidings, as part of a focus on electrical safety upgrades / enhancements.

Design works included conductor rail cut backs and transpositions, introduction of track disconnectors and new guard-boarding proposals.

This involved extensive third rail gapping assessments to be undertaken and analysis of existing stock and movements across the affected depot and sidings roads, to ensure proposals were safe and compliant.
