East Surrey College National Careers Week Visit

Lowery’s HSQE and HR teams recently visited East Surrey College to support a group of 17 students to support their activities for the National Careers week and give a window into what a career in rail and construction has to offer.

Activities included a presentation on what Lowery does on the railway, roles in construction and a personal journey into construction. The exercises include the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). Spaghetti skyscrapers and an environmental hazard perception game. All teams did a fantastic job building a skyscraper from spaghetti and marshmallows.

Students thanked us for the positive experience, with one noting “today was really good and useful thank you”.

Lowery’s Sustainability Manager, Olubukola Olose remarked “One of the groups built the best tower (stable, well planned, good teamwork and tall) I have seen since I have been doing school visits in the last 5 years”.
